You, our residents, asked for more exciting, interesting adult program opportunities, and we heard you! In this issue you will see that many programs are scheduled to be held at Lake Park High School. The Park District has teamed up with Lake Park School District 108 to bring you some amazing programs, just for adults, conveniently located at Lake Park’ s East Campus. Programs are open to all Bloomingdale residents as well as the LPHS community.

How to Master Public Speaking
Gain the self-confidence you need to be an excellent speaker. Novices and experienced presenters alike learn by doing in this nonintimidating, interactive course. Participants learn the basic tools for public speaking: analyzing your audience, overcoming stage fright, organizing your speech for the most impact, and incorporating the effective use of visual aids. Also covered are clear message delivery, nonverbal communication, and preparing for questions from an audience. Over the past 15 years, Instructor Jill Kirby has taught courses in business administration, business communications, and professional speaking at Roosevelt University, College of Lake County and Illinois Central College. She is also an Independent Educational Consultant( IEC) and principal of Kirby College Consulting.

Fairy Garden Workshop
Unlock the mystery of the magical world of fairy gardening! University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener Jan Hanson leads you in this hands-on program and inspires you to create your own miniature garden. Go home with your own whimsical garden creation where gnomes, fairies, elves, and other wee folk can frolic. All supplies are included. Class is great, though not exclusively, for moms and children. Jan, whose home is regularly featured in many garden and pond walks, is the recipient of the Sustained Excellence Award( 2013) and State Outstanding Master Gardener Award( 2010).

Valentine’ s Day Cooking Class
Treat your valentine to a very special and memorable evening. Enjoy appetizers upon arrival, then prepare grilled shrimp and tenderloin steak with chimichurri sauce; red skin potato mashers with green onion; and spinach salad with apples, white cheddar, almonds, and cranberries dressed with a honey and apple cider vinaigrette. Chocolates for dessert. Enjoy the meal you make in an intimate dining room. Feel free to bring wine, beer, or champagne to enjoy while cooking or dining. Class is held at My Chef Station, 632 Irving Park Rd., in Roselle. Class price is per couple.
