Teen Art Show
Attention teens, create your best work of art related to the park district( park, program, or other) and we will display them during the concert on June 27 at Old Town Park. Patrons of the concert will be invited to cast their vote for“ Best in Show” and the winner will receive a gift card.
Art must be completed and dropped off at the Johnston Recreation Center by June 13. Be sure to include your name, title of the work and a phone number for the Park District to contact you should you win. Artwork can be picked up between 8:30 a. m. and 7:30 p. m., June 29 at the Johnston Recreation Center.
Oasis KFN
Enjoy splashtastic fun at Klub Friday Night at The Oasis! The night includes swimming, splash contests, races and random prizes throughout the night including the Titanic Tub O’ Twizzlers. The drop-in fee is an additional $ 5 per person. All participants must be picked up by a responsible adult 18 or older at the end of the night. Registrations must be done at the JRC.

Got GAGA? Well the BPD does!! Come join us during the summer months and enjoy this new EXCITING and FUN game that’ s taking the good times to another level. A form of Dodgeball played in an outdoor octagon type area. GAGA combines dodging, striking, running, and jumping, while trying to be the last person standing. Drop-ins welcome.

Archery
Participants learn the parts of an arrow and recurve bow, basics of using a recurve bow and fundamental shooting skills in a safe environment. Students will be taught the nationally-recognized beginner’ s 9 step to the 10-ring progression. Blunt tipped arrow, bows and targets provided. Both technique and games will be a part of this class. Class is held at Circle Park.

Mindstorms Robotics
Explore the world of engineering by building complex control systems, using the NXT brick from LEGO ®. Teams build robots and then program them to accomplish tasks, respond to external stimuli, and overcome challenges such as navigation, avoiding and / or climbing over obstacles and moving objects. Get your brains in gear and your robots moving in this course!

Taekwondo
Students have the opportunity to improve concentration and selfesteem, achieve lifelong physical fitness and learn self-defense skills. Restricted to high school students and older, this program concentrates on Taekwondo techniques through the study of forms and stances and the skills of punching, kicking and blocking.

3D Video Program and Design
With a partner, learn to program a computer in an innovative 3D programming environment, created by Carnegie Mellon University. The course makes it easy to create an animation for telling a story, playing an interactive game, or simply to share with friends. This object-oriented program is fun and challenging, and participants learn fundamental programming concepts in a virtual world.
