By Gundo Victory
Blink got to chat with one of the best Creative Directors/
Photographer/Graphic Designer from Polokwane,
Theophellus T-Kat Mavunda.
Tell us more about yourself
T-kat?
between a graphic designer
and creative director?
I`m an art director,I creatively solve
problems. Though my job may at times
include Art directory, graphic design, copywriting, photography and illustration, my
value is in the conceptual thinking and
over-arching ideas I generate ideas,that
build and evolve brands through whatever
medium possible.
Though art directors may have more
responsibility in the advertising sense in
that they supervise or 'direct' work, it is a
misconception that the difference between
a designer and an art director is the
difference between look and feel; or that
the art director creates a concept which a
designer implements.
Since I do both I implement the ideas I
generate.
When did you discover your
art/talent?
I've always been a creative person for as
long as I can remember, I`m actually an
artist before anything, when I was kid I
used to draw portraits of people and sell
them.
What motivated you?
My daughter, she is the most beautiful
thing ever has ever made.
What inspires your
creativity?
Life in general, whether good or bad, I
feed from whatever life throws at me.
Anyone you look up to?
None, It limits my creativity…
Can you tell the difference
designer/creative director?
Ever since I got a Job offer in the UK in
2014, I would really like to myself doing
something internationally.
Any advice to youth who
would like to pursue graphic
design as their career?
Love what you Do and Do what you love,
the world needs creative minds. It's worth
it.
What's your opinion on
CorelDraw vs ADOBE
Illustrator?
In both application you may do almost
everything if you know how. But I think
Illustrator is better its more flexible than
CoralDraw.
Graphic designing software
that you are using at the
moment?
Adode Creative Suit 6, CorelDraw,
Mojo (3D Modeling)
Where do you want to see
