CAREER TIPS

F

or many people
choosing a career is
very simple and it seems
as very basic thing to do.
However, when one attends all these
expos, one hears a recurrent
declaration of how tough choosing a
career is. Which is truth here? The
truth is that choosing a career is
tough, very tough, it is by far the one
choice that has the power to make
or take the meaning of your life. If
this is true, why do I contradict
myself and say choosing a career is a
simple exercise? I say so because
many of us choose survival for a
career, instead of investing time in
identifying and crafting the journey to
your career, we want the quickest job
we can find and earn a salary.
We do this, not because we are
unaware of that it's a cost far too
great to live with and still experience
meaning, harmony, peace and a sense
of purpose in our lives. We do this
because we lack knowledge of who
we are. Without self-knowledge, a
thorough grasp of self-knowledge, we
are bound to find ourselves in jobs
we hate and usually, we realise that
there's a change needed when things
have turned sour; we sleep
depressed by the idea of going to
that horrible job tomorrow and we
wake depressed by the idea of leaving
that horrible workplace only to
prepare for going again tomorrow. A
horrible place to find yourself, but
don't despair, I have a few tips I've
applied in my career and also in my
clients career preparation process.
The tips I provide below will go
from the internal personal aspect to
the external environmental aspects.
While preparing this article, I tried to
not focus only on those still looking
to find what their dream career is
and structured these pointers such
that you can still find what you
believe is your dream career. Let's
get to it!

Find Your Blessing
In my book, “Writings on the Wall: Success
Is Not Guaranteed”, I express that too
many of us are miserable because we have
no clue as to where we are blessed or
what our gifts are. When you find your gift,
what you do is you start to express it and
the more you express and explore it is the
more you understand it better, ultimately,
you will be able to trade with your gift. So
the first thing is to identify what is it that
you are good at and align whatever career
prospects with it, all else that does not fall
in, excuse.

Nurture it & Evolve
Once you have ascertained what your gift
is, don't just accept it as it as and spend the
rest of your life using the same tricks to
enjoy a full life through your career. So,
what do we do to avoid this? We nurture
our gifts so they can render us
transformed.
Read the right books, if you want to be a
space traveller, read a lot of astronomy
books. Watch SCi-Fi movies and space trips
and great stories. Watch documentaries
that tell good and bad stories of astronomy.
Attend space travelling expos and just
know as much as you can about space so
that you are no longer just a person who is
gifted with a set of space travelling skills,
but an individual who is in control of their
gift and what they can create with their
gifts and the knowledge disposed to them.
Always find it in you to learn something
new every eight hours about your gift and
what it can do for you and you for it.
