The diversity of the campus
When taking a closer look at the different logos BUas has had through the years , and the changes that were made , the one made in 1988 was actually very important for the design of the current campus . The Frontier Building is based on this logo ! Alongside the Sint Ignatiusstraat , you can see one side of the Frontier Building . What is interesting about this side , are the triangle , circle , and square-shaped buildings that are attached to it . These three parts of the Frontier Building stand for the triangle , circle and square on the logo from 1988 ! How cool is that ?

Besides the Frontier building , we cannot forget the Ocean building and the convent across ( the Horizon building ) from the Frontier building . Let ’ s start with the Ocean building , shall we ?
The Ocean Building is located on the edge of the campus . But it was not always the ’ Ocean Building ’. Before BUas moved to its current campus , it was a ‘’ Mavo ’’ ( lower general secondary education ), called ‘’ Maria Mediatrix Mavo ’’. You might wonder why ‘ Maria ’ was in the name . Well , it was because the Convent across this building is called the Maria Mater Dei convent of the Franciscan Sisters . The sisters who lived there , now moved to the Leystroom care centre situated next to the convent . Did you know that when you walk through the Horizon Building , you can spot the benches from the Chapel that were used back in the day ?

BUILDINGS
OCEAN refers to the great explorers in history crossing unknown oceans and discovering new lands ; many of the most famous explorers were sea captains .
refers to the dividing line between the discovered and the undiscovered ; we are crossing frontiers , we shift frontiers ; it aligns with exploring and shaping . The building was opened by the then Minister of Transport and Water Management and former student Jorritsma .
