Lanark The gardens of Lanark in Millbrook cover more than 30 acres, and are the result of the efforts of Isabel and Wiley Hill who moved there as newlyweds in 1948. The couple spent 50 years creating a landscape filled with flowering trees, daffodils, camellias, azaleas, narcissus, hydrangeas and many other species, including native wildflowers. Lawns, ponds, bridges, streams and wooded paths are also part of the natural display designed by the Hills. Wiley Hill died in 1995, and Isabel Hill in 2001, and both houses on the 350-acre property and the included gardens were left to the Alabama Wildlife Federation.
