Internal Awards
Each year, Blank Rome recognizes colleagues whose pro bono work reflects the best of our firm. Four awards honor impact, leadership, and dedication: the Edwin P. Rome Pro Bono Achievement Award, our highest honor, celebrates extraordinary work that changes lives; the Pro Bono Practice Group of the Year Award honors a group’ s meaningful contributions; and the Comisky Cup, named for former partner Marvin Comisky, is awarded to the office showing the strongest dedication to this work.
Edwin P. Rome Achievement Award Recipient: David M. Perry
David Perry, partner and co-chair of our Intellectual Property & Technology group, received the firm’ s annual Edwin P. Rome Pro Bono Achievement Award for helping secure the release of Tyree Wallace, who served 26 years in prison after a wrongful conviction. After meeting Mr. Wallace in 2019, David investigated the case and partnered with civil rights attorney Keir Bradford-Grey to file a new postconviction petition that led to Mr. Wallace’ s release.
Pro Bono Practice Group of the Year: FILARC
The Financial Institutions Litigation and Regulatory Compliance(“ FILARC”) practice group led the firm in pro bono engagement this year, handling impactful matters in voter protection, family law, elder law, immigration, pardons, homeless advocacy, and more, reflecting a deep commitment to justice across the firm.
Comisky Cup Winner: Houston
The firm’ s Houston office earned the Comisky Cup for its impactful pro bono work, including military discharge upgrades, asylum and immigration matters, voting rights and voter protection, small business and nonprofit support, and guardianship matters.
