Community marks next chapter of Blacktown’ s city centre

Blacktown is one of Australia’ s fastestgrowing and most diverse communities, and its city centre is now entering an exciting new phase of growth.
Blacktown Quarter will transform the CBD into a more vibrant, connected and welcoming destination- a place where people can work closer to home, access quality healthcare and enjoy everyday life in the heart of the city.
Bringing together jobs, education, healthcare and green public spaces, the precinct will support a growing workforce, attract new investment and create a more active, well-connected city centre, with strong links to Main Street, Westpoint and public transport.
Hundreds of local residents, workers and families recently gathered at Village Green to mark the start of works on Blacktown Quarter, signalling a major step forward in the revitalisation of the city centre.
The Blacktown Community Kick-Off event gave the community an opportunity to meet the team behind the project, view the latest plans and hear what’ s ahead as site works get underway.
Delivered by Walker in partnership with Blacktown City Council, Blacktown Quarter will help transform the city centre into a more connected, walkable and vibrant destination for Western Sydney.
Walker Group Executive of Development Jessica Jordan said the strong turnout reflected the community’ s interest in the future of their city.
“ This is a long-term investment in Blacktown’ s future, and with community feedback helping to shape the Blacktown Quarter masterplan, it was great to see so many people come down, ask questions and engage with the plans,” Ms Jordan said.
“ Blacktown is growing quickly, so it’ s exciting to see Blacktown Quarter move into the next phase, creating new public spaces, better connections and more reasons for people to spend time in the city centre.”
Blacktown Mayor Brad Bunting said the project represents an important step forward for the city.

“ This is exactly the kind of investment we want to see in Blacktown. Our city is growing rapidly, and Blacktown Quarter will help the city centre evolve into a place where people want to spend time, while supporting thousands of jobs and contributing nearly $ 1 billion a year to the local economy.
“ This will be a terrific boost, and we expect more investment to follow.”
Mayor Bunting said the strong attendance at the launch highlighted the community’ s enthusiasm for the project.“ It was great to see hundreds of residents, workers and local businesses take part in the Community Kick-Off. That level of interest shows how much people care about the future of our city centre, and it provided a valuable opportunity

Early works are now underway, with further updates to be shared with the community as the project progresses.
