A LANDMARK FACILITY CREATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR INCLUSION, PARTICIPATION AND COMMUNITY CONNECTION

Blacktown City Council has officially opened the new Disability Sports Centre at Blacktown International Sports Park, a $ 15 million facility that will transform access to grassroots sport and community participation for
people with disability.
Developed in partnership with Disability Sports Australia and fully funded by the NSW Government’ s Office of Sport, the centre is the first of its kind in Western Sydney, setting a new benchmark for inclusion and accessibility in sport.
Blacktown City Mayor Brad Bunting said the facility reflects Council’ s strong commitment to inclusion, diversity and active living.
“ Being more active, more often is good for health, good for inclusion, and good for our whole community,” Mayor Bunting said.“ This centre is about more than high-performance training it’ s about giving everyone the chance to get active, connect, and enjoy the benefits of sport.”
Featuring two multipurpose courts, tailored amenities, and fully accessible change rooms, the facility supports athletes and participants balancing training with work, study, and family commitments. It also provides strong links to the Blacktown Exercise, Sports and Technology Hub( BEST), encouraging participation from grassroots through to elite levels.
The ribbon was cut by Paralympian Timothy Hodge, marking a proud moment for Western Sydney’ s sporting community.
Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said the project is one of 12 across NSW delivered through the $ 140 million Centre of Excellence Fund, designed
