Historic job creation under Albanese Labor Government

The Albanese Labor Government has achieved a remarkable milestone , creating nearly one million jobs since coming to office .
This accomplishment is unparalleled , with the Albanese government having created more jobs in a single parliamentary term than any previous government .
The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics ( ABS ) Labour Force figures reveal that an additional 50,200 people found employment in the past month alone .
Despite a slight rise in the unemployment rate to 4.1 per cent , it remains close to historic lows .
Under the former coalition government , the unemployment rate averaged 5.6 per cent , highlighting the significant improvement .
Full-time employment has seen a substantial increase , rising by 43,300 in June to reach a record high of 9,944,200 .
This marks a year-on-year increase of 122,100 full-time jobs , with full-time employment accounting for around 60 per cent of job growth during this term .
Part-time employment has also reached new heights , increasing by 6,800 in June to stand at 4,461,800 .
Total and full-time employment reached record highs for both men and women in June 2024 .
These figures reflect the positive impact of the government ’ s policies on the Australian workforce .
While inflation is lower and real wages are experiencing annual growth , we recognise that many Australians are still facing significant cost-of-living pressures .
The Albanese Labor Government remains committed to providing meaningful relief to ensure Australians can earn more and keep more of what they earn .
In the recent Budget , we introduced measures aimed at easing cost-of-living pressures , including :
• Labor ’ s tax cuts for every Australian taxpayer – not just some .
• $ 300 energy bill relief for every Australian household and $ 325 for small businesses .
• A freeze on the cost of PBS medicines for every Australian .
• More funding to build more homes in every part of the country . This is alongside cheaper child care , fee-free TAFE , and the biggest investment ever in expanding bulkbilling , supporting more Australians .
Our policies are designed to provide substantial relief , ensuring that Australians have greater financial stability and security .
In contrast , Peter Dutton ’ s approach would see Australians working longer hours for less pay .
Our government ’ s focus is on creating jobs , supporting workers , and building a stronger , fairer economy .

Better School Infrastructure
Better playgrounds , classrooms , and learning facilities are on their way to five public schools in Chifley , thanks to a huge investment through the Albanese Government ’ s Schools Upgrade Fund .
I welcomed the Federal Education Minister , Jason Clare , at Chifley College Bidwill campus , to meet with college principals and students to see how the funding will benefit our community .
Labor believes in our area ’ s students and believes in the need to invest into their schools . This stands as one of the largest dedications of federal school infrastructure funding in years .
Blackett Public School ($ 600,000 ) Chifley Colleges : Bidwill Campus ($ 1.2 million ), Mount Druitt Campus ($ 1.15 million ), Senior Campus ($ 1.15 million ), Shalvey Campus ($ 1.85 million ).
Funding for Richmond Road
Great news , the Federal and NSW governments are joining up to invest $ 520m into upgrading Richmond Road .
This will help tackle an absolute traffic nightmare for locals .
It ’ s not only welcome news for long suffering motorists but it ’ s a boost for local business and jobs .
Under plans revealed today there ’ ll be extra lanes to widen Richmond Rd and a dedicated flyover bridge from the M7 , replacing the current exit to Rooty Hill Rd North .
I joined Deputy Premier Prue Car MP , NSW Roads Minister John Graham and State MPs Edmond Atalla MP , Warren Kirby MP , Stephen Bali MP and Mayor of Blacktown Brad Bunting to unveil the upgrade designs .
