The Minns Labor Government ’ s $ 60 weekly Toll Cap is now live , in a great win for residents across Western Sydney .

Since we were first elected in March 2023 , the Minns Labor Government ’ s number one priority has been to help families with the cost of living . With the weekly Toll Cap , motorists can now claim a rebate of up to $ 340 if they spend more than $ 60 a week on tolls .

I spoke in Parliament to support the establishment of the $ 60 Toll Cap and highlight the important and immediate relief a toll cap would provide to our families in Western Sydney who are struggling with the cost of living , and who do not have other public transport alternatives .

After 12 years of Liberal National obsession with privatisations and sell offs of our roads , Sydney has become the most tolled city in the world . The previous Liberal National Government signed secret contracts , locking NSW motorists into at least 4 % yearly increases every year until 2060 . The resulting total toll payable until 2060 would be enough to build 94 hospitals and 1,537 high schools .

Our residents in Western Sydney are bearing the brunt of these tolls – going to work , driving the kids to school ,

carpooling to sport on the weekend . As a local resident , I know how expensive these tolls have become .

The good news is that drivers who spend on average $ 200 per week on tolls will now receive approximately $ 7,280 in rebates per year . This is another way the Minns Labor Government is helping to ease cost of living pressures for commuters and their families in our Prospect Electorate and across Western Sydney .

In addition to the Toll Cap , the Minns Labor Government has delivered record increases to our Family Energy Rebate , Seniors Energy Rebate and Low-Income Household Rebates , our $ 250 Pensioner Concession Rebates to reduce pressure from council rates , and our $ 500 long day care fee relief via the Start Strong program , reducing the cost of long day care for three-year-olds .
