... FROM THE PUBLISHER ’ S DESK ... Your thoughts ? julie @ hdinews . com . au

The third week in March marks the astronomical start of autumn in the Southern Hemisphere , and I am sure we are all hanging out for some cooler weather . The tree canopies in the parklands and reserves will soon start to change colour and form a delight for the eyes as leaves turn all shades of red and gold .
There is a big focus on health and wellbeing , plus stories that are inspiring in this month ’ s edition . We have two Finest columns , Brad Arthur , p6 / 7 and Yannick Mifsud , 8 / 9 /. Brad has had a remarkable rugby league coaching career . The boy from Riverstone held down ‘ normal ’ jobs as well as his diverse coaching roles . He credits his hard work off the field as a factor in helping him better understand his players and his teams .
Yannick Mifsud went to school in Bosley Park and then moved to Blacktown . He has been obsessed with sport since a young age , and his talent on the footy field took
BCI him to play in Malta and the UK . He says so much of his experience in sport and technique training is through experience and not academia . He opened his own gym , Shred Fitness , in Blacktown and is a well-known professional and respected figure in the industry .
More feel-good stories , Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals ’ doctors scooped up a swag of recognition awards as well as some funding grants through their Annual Doctors of the Year Awards .
Melanoma March is featured on p12 with its fundamental message that it is not cool to have a tan ! I know you beach bummers out there will be disappointed but this awareness raising is nothing new . 2024 Australians of the Year urge Aussies to help stop ‘ the glamourisation of tanning and help reach zero deaths from melanoma ’.
Enjoy this month ’ s news over a cuppa or a chilled drink - until next month .
