Q. Can you give us your thoughts on the lawsuit against Jeff Sessions and the bill that Corey Booker just introduced to end federal prohibition of marijuana?
A. This nonsense on the Federal level is limited. I’m thrilled that the Cannabis Cultural Association and Marvin Washington, both who are very good
friends of ours, sued Jeff Sessions. Do I think that the lawsuit is going to go anywhere? Of course not. But it is one of the things that we do to allow people to publicly be able to discuss what is wrong with America’s number one lawmaker when he’s focused on wanting to arrest more people for cannabis. Which brings us to the idea that Corey Booker did introduce a bill that would end prohibition on the federal level. Let’s not mince words, that IS going to happen and it is going to happen sooner rather than later. I’m guessing within the next year to year and a half at the federal level. They have to now because so many Americans have access to legal weed. Now that we’ve got states like Nevada, Washington, Colorado, California, Oregon, Maine all allowing for legal sale of cannabis; it means something ridiculous like close to 80 million Americans can now buy legal cannabis. So what sense does it make to lock up someone in Alabama for going and buying a bag when you can buy a bunch of it in many other states. What sense does it make locking up the black people for selling a dime in Alabama when you have white people in Colorado selling billions. It doesn’t make sense! So understand that the federal government is going to be out of the cannabis industry very quickly. They’re going to have to. We are starting to see it with this first lawsuit, and this first lawsuit is just the beginning of lawsuits to come. So I’m glad to see it. I’m proud of them and we need to stand up to the federal government this way. Remember we have a nation of “We the people” not “We the government”.
Q. Bring us all up to date on what Simply Pure is doing and what we should be looking out for in the near future.
A. Simply Pure is opening up its edible company. So by the first quarter of next year edibles will be on the street. By the middle of next year Simply Pure concentrates will be on the streets. We’re extremely proud to be doing this! We are looking at being a national distributor of cannabis products, which means we will be in numerous states and we are very excited.
