8

Music was and still is a big part of the Black experience and culture, matter of fact music had a culture of it's own! The black heritage roots of rock and roll was always fore shadowed during the 1920' and beyond. It was common for white writers and singers to actually steal the lyrics and sing them on the radio like they were the original composers. Stealing or what we call today pirating was not illegal. A black singer could be sitting in their car or at a party and her their songs being song by the likes of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Pat Boone who all were white. The black artists never received the royalties for their hard work.
