Why do some of us get sicker more than others and die sooner? It turns out that there is more, much more to our well being than genes, behavior and medical care. The social economic and physical environments in which we are born, live and work profoundly affect our longevity and health; so much as smoking, diet and exercise.

Individuals at the top of the class pyramid average longer lives than those at the bottom. The more disempowered get sick more and die sooner. Most of us fall somewhere in between. Class, economic status, environment and race has all been linked in the longevity of our life.
