New Smart Boards Installed
Ateres Yaakov installed 7
new Smart Boards over the
Sukkos Break. Each classroom is now equipped with
a Smart Board. The new
boards were made possible by a generous donation from a parent who
wishes to remain anonymous.
Many of the teachers had
already integrated the
Smart Board technology
into their classes, and the
teachers whose classrooms
just received new boards
are excited by the possibilities. Revashi Adoniyahu, a
math teacher in the school,
stated that, “The Smart
Board enables me to teach
the math in a whole new
way. I am no longer limited
by what I can scribble on
the board. Now I have
Mesivta Ateres Yaakov
131 Washington Ave
Lawrence, NY 11559
access to thousands of
math problems, pages of
notes, and an interactive
board on which to teach
them”.
The Rebbeim are also delighted by the new additions. It has enabled the
Gemara shiurim to become interactive and hightech. Rabbi Yossi Bennett,
the
Assistant
Menhel/Principal, said that,
“We already had Smartboards for most of our
Math and Science classrooms, but this improvement now allows us to
have them available to all
our Limudei Kodesh and
General Studies classes. It
is just another example of
our commitment to providing the best possible education for our talmidim.”
One Big Family
By: Jonah Schoenfeld- 10th Grade
By: Shmuel Berger- 11th Grade
Arista President, 12th gravity of the situation
grader Dani Feit, recently raised $1,216 to
help a struggling family in Israel. When he
heard from Rabbi Yaffe
that a family in Israel
was in desperate need
of support, he undertook to raise funds
around the school.
The family he was collecting for was really
two families who were
forced to combine due
to a mother of seven
passing away during
the childbirth of her
eighth child, with no
father to take care of
the children. The deceased mother’s sibling, whose family already had 11 children,
took in the 8 orphans.
After Mincha one day,
Feit addressed the
Yeshiva to explain the
and to take pledges
and donations. He
went into he project
with the goal of raising
at least $500 to send
to the family.
But his speech resonated with the students and within the
first hour of his speech,
the students, Rabbeim,
and
teachers
had
combined to donate
$750. By the end of the
first week, $1,216 was
raised.
Dani Feit explained
that, “One of the
things Arista is about is
giving back to the
community and I am
just glad that I, along
with the members of
the school, had this
unique chance to do
our little part to help a
family in need.”
