The Brazilian consumer : addicted to biscuits

Known for its carnivals , football and beaches , Brazil should also be famous for its biscuit lovers . The category of cookies and crackers is extremely popular among Brazilian consumers , with 96 % of them eating any type of these products , according to data from the research company , Mintel .

The Brazilian consumer pre fers cream crackers , while Maria cookie ( a type of sweet bis - cuit similar to a Rich Tea bis cuit ) leads in the cookies segment . If we separate the preferences ac - cording to classes , the consumer from the socioeconomic class , DE ( semi and unskilled manual workers and those with a low level of sub sis - tence ), chooses crackers - 81 %. Meanwhile , AB consumers , upper middle class and middle class , enjoy cookies as the consumption reaches 72 %. On the other hand , the data from Mintel show that the lower socioeconomic class con su mer is very interested in products with a lower price point . This is an op - portunity for companies to grow sales . Low price is important for 38 % of the respondents when purchasing cookies and crackers products , only after flavor .

LOVE FOR CREAM CRACKERS Considering all the types of crackers sur veyed , 40 % of the res pon dents ad - mit that they eat cream crackers , making this type of product the most commonly consumed . Cream crackers are the most popular with females ( 51 %) and consumers aged 35 and over ( 51 %). Cornstarch / Maria cookies are the main type of cookie that is eaten by Bra - zilians , consumed by 37 % of the
