Pharmaceutical organized
a National Consultation
on “Optimizing the Skills
of Health Workforce to
Tackle NCDs in India” at
Delhi on April 18, 2017.
The Consultation
drew experts from the
government, corporate,
senior endocrinologists
and diabetologists,
civil society, academia,
international donor
agencies and more. It
was aimed at providing a
platform for presenting
and discussing the most
recent innovations,
promising practices,
trends, challenges, and
the solutions adopted
to improve the skills of
health workers working

India develops national
action plan to combat
antimicrobial resistance
“Antimicrobial resistance
is a serious threat to
global public health that
requires action across
all government sectors
and society and is driven
by many interconnected
factors. Single, isolated
interventions have
limited impact and
coordinated action is
required to minimize the
emergence and spread of
antimicrobial resistance.”
This was stated by Mr J
P Nadda, Union Minister
of Health and Family
Welfare at at the ‘Inter-
Ministerial Consultation
on AMR containment’, on
April 19th at New Delhi.
Mr J P Nadda also
announced the finalization
of India’s comprehensive
and multi-sectoral
National Action Plan at
the function. Mr Ram
Vila Paswan, Minister of
Consumer Affairs, Food
& Public Distribution,
Mr Anil Madhav Dave,
Minister of Environment,
Forest & Climate Change,
Smt. Anupriya Patel, MoS
(Health & Family Welfare)
were also present. The
Ministers later signed a
‘Delhi Declaration’ for
collectively strategizing
to contain AMR.
Milestone: an early
intervention &
transformation clinic’
for autistic kids
Sankara Eye Hospital of
Bengaluru is continuing
its tradition of eye care
beyond excellence.
The hospital recently
inaugurated “Milestone–
an Early Intervention
& Transformation
Centre”, for children with
Autism Spectrum, with
support and contribution
from “Surya”, a
volunteer initiative
established in 2004.
The centre was
inaugurated by Dr
Santhan Gopal,
President All India
Ophthalmological Society
and Film Personality
Ms Nabha Natesh. The
inauguration was followed
