BIOM 1491-Special Topics in Biomedical Engineering-Related Technology

Topics address recently identified current events, skills, knowledge, and/or attitudes and behaviors pertinent to the technology or occupation and relevant to the professional development of the student. This course was designed to be repeated multiple times to improve student proficiency.

BIOM 1455-Medical Electronic Applications

Presentation of sensors, transducers, and supporting circuits used in medical instrumentation devices.

BIOM 2231-Biomedical Clinical Instrumentation

A study of theory, application, and principles of operation of instruments commonly used in a medical laboratory.

CETT 1325 - Digital Fundamentals

An entry-level course in digital electronics covering number systems, binary mathematics, digital codes, logic gates, Boolean Algebra, and combinational logic. Emphasis on circuit logic analysis and troubleshooting digital circuits.

BIOM 2266 - Practicum Biomedical Technology I

BIOM 2267 - Practicum Biomedical Technology II

Practical general training and experiences in the workplace. The College, with the employer, develops and documents an individualized plan for the student. The plan relates the workplace training and experiences to the students general and technical course of study. The guided external experiences may be paid or unpaid. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary.

Principles of operation, theory, and maintenance of respiratory equipment.

BIOM 2219- Fundamentals of X-Ray and Medical Imaging Systems

Radiation theory and safety hazards, fundamental circuits, and application of X?ray systems including circuit analysis and troubleshooting.

BIOM 2357 - Biomedical Equipment Technician Proficiency Review

An overview of the certification examination topics for biomedical equipment technicians.

PHIL 2306- Introduction to Ethics

Classical and contemporary theories concerning the good life, human conduct in society, and moral and ethical standards.

ENGL 1301- Composotion I

Intensive study of and practice in writing processes, from invention and researching to drafting, revising, and editing, both individually and collaboratively. Emphasis on effective rhetorical choices, including audience, purpose, arrangement, and style. Focus on writing the academic essay as a vehicle for learning, communicating, and critical analysis.

PSYC 2301 - General Psychology

Survey of major topics in psychology. Introduces the study of behavior and the factors that determine and affect behavior and mental processes.
