Biomedical Engineering Technology Academics and Training
The Biomedical engineering Technology program works closely with its industry partners. We also collaborate with our Health Professions programs at the college to provide our BMETs access to a variety of medical, laboratory, radiological, and veterinarian devices.
In this segment, you will see an example of that partnership with industry and collaboration with our Health Professions program, specifically the Respiratory Therapy Program.
Shown in the red polo is Mr. Greg Bennet, a BMET Alumni of our program, and an employee of GE Medical.
Mr. Bennet is showing our students the required maintenance on Puritan Bennett 840(name is purely coincidence). Our students learn in this two year program how to prepare and deliver educational content. Teaching clinicians about medical devices was once a large part of the BMET job duties. With the complexity of the devices rising, this will be a necessary skill to have.
Greg walks the students through the maintenance procedure.
