BIOM 1309 - Applied Biomedical Equipment Technology

Prerequisites: CETT 1409 or ENGT 1409 (or concurrent enrollment)

Introduction to biomedical instrumentation as related to anatomy and physiology. Includes medical devices for monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment of anatomical systems.

CETT 1409 - DC-AC Circuits

Fundamentals of DC circuits and AC circuits operation including Ohm’s Law, Kirchoff’s Laws, networks, transformers, resonance, phasors, capacitive and inductive and circuit analysis techniques.

BIOM 2215 - Physiological Instruments I

Integrated Reading & Writing Basic Skills Prerequisite: INRW 0420

Math Basic Skills Prerequisite: MATH 0320

Theory of operation, circuit analysis, and troubleshooting physiological instruments.

CETT 1429 - Solid State Devices

A study of diodes, transistor characteristics and other semiconductor devices, including analysis of static and dynamic characteristics, biasing techniques, and thermal considerations.

BIOM 1315 - Medical Equipment Networks

Integrated Reading & Writing Basic Skills Prerequisite: INRW 0420

Math Basic Skills Prerequisite: MATH 0320

Identification of basic principles of medical equipment networking. Hardware, software, and connectivity issues of medical equipment in healthcare facilities will be covered.

BIOM 2301 - Safety in Healthcare Facilities

Study of codes, standards, and management principles related to biomedical instrumentation. Emphasize on the proper use and application of safety test equipment, preventivemaintenance, procedures, and documentation of work performed.
