Occupational Skills Award in Human Patient Simulation Technology
Human Patient Simulation is becoming the standard at colleges, universities, health science center, R&D, and clinical training for all levels of medical professionals; from Medical Assistants to Surgical Residents. HPS’s can assist practitioners to perform procedures such as intubation, periocardiocentesis, as well as improving clinical judgement by providing a more realistic scenario. The emergence of this new healthcare technology teaching tool requires moderate to high level technical training depending on the fidelity of the human patient simulator. Biomedical Engineering technicians and clinical engineers are professionals with the right combination of interdisciplinary skills to tackle such an emerging healthcare technology. The courses outlined will in provide the basics of theory and hands on maintenance, programming, and minor repair of human patient simulators that are applicable to many different human patient simulator manufacturers.
