Business Description: Biomass.Market™ is more than just a local
cloud-based biomass trading & information platform. It will connect
small & large farmers or foresters with biomass processors (power
plants, agro-processing hubs & biorefiners, etc.) and provide technical
support to (small-scale) suppliers and corporate users of biomass.

Product/Market Fit: The Biomass.Market™ app development is
moving towards a beta for a pilot project in the Northern
Natal/Mpumalanga area, to trade ±50,000 tpa biomass from wood
residues from surrounding forests as well as corncobs from Swaziland
to supply a sugar mill for fuel (as coal replacement).
Business Model: Biomass trade is a new concept (in South Africa and
many other countries). There are some small and random B2B
transactions. Biomass.Market™’ intends to disrupt these arrangements
by offering a broad-based easily accessible local market platform, that
guides, supports and encourages new players to participate, however
small or large they may be.
Biomass.Market™ is a first of its kind product and its roll-out is piggy-backed on the biomass need of a very large
corporation. The revenue model is based on four income streams: Subscription fees from the biomass processors, a
transactional charge (seller’s commission) as well as advertising income and a share of the carbon credits.
