D.Luxe is inspired by all genres; “If you like music, you’ll like all music that’s good,” she says. Growing up in Chicago listening to House, Soul, Funk, Disco, The Bee Gees, Madonna and Barry White D.Luxe has always been connected to music. “I remember even crying when I heard some songs as a little girl.” Unaware of her destiny back then, she also recalls recording songs from the radio on cassettes and later on making mixtapes for her friends when she moved to Florida. Evidently, she’s no novice. “I’ve been into music hardcore for forever,” she conceded. Barbados has been home for Dionna and her family for 5 years. She’s been married for 15 years and has three kids; 10, 12 & 14. She co-owns two businesses with her husband; Barbados Gold Buyers and a fresh modern pawnshop called iExchange. Just like her mixes, her fashion sense is influenced by a plethora of styles. Her mantra “Classy never Trashy” forms the foundation of each outfit she constructs. “I’m just trying to represent in a classy way for the ladies and for young girls to look up and say, ‘wow, look she’s not a naked DJ’,” D.Luxe said. On regular days, she sporadically indulges her tomboy side but when she’s spinning; her attire is anything but that; it’s strictly heels. She even coordinates her headphones with her outfits. How chic is that? 20 | BIM ROCK | PARTY ROCKs
