ISSUE 03 | MARCH 2020
He has brought us up as strong women who believe in
themselves and who are living their lives on their own terms,
and challenges the norms of the society about what women
should or should not do. We were raised very strong,
independent, and homely. Our father has always pushed us to
do the things that are sporty and adventurous, and taught us to
believe in ourselves and helped us to do the things that we
want to do.
So yes, my parents are very, very supportive of the sport, and
that's the biggest reason that I could pursue this passion
because had I have not had this support. Honestly, I don't think
I would have been in the position of where I am today.
My younger sister is also my support system. She is also there
at all my races. She keeps posting things about me on her
Instagram, talking about me being a woman who inspires other
people and worthy of the appreciation that she's getting. She is
always pushing me and guiding me. She says, listen, "don't
worry even if mama & papa would ever say that you don't race,
I will always be there at your races to support you."
And that's very sweet.
BC: How do you manage racing with dentistry? And often do
you practice on your bike, and where?
NY: I practice on my bike once or twice a month at Buddh
International Circuit. I run a bustling private dental clinic in
Gurgaon 6 days a week, Monday to Saturday. I focus entirely on
my patients when in my clinic, providing the best dental care
that I can. I try to master my dental abilities by updating and
upgrading myself in dentistry. That is my life as a dentist.
On Sunday's, I give time to my passion with full dedication, and
I completely forget about dentistry when I am on track because
I believe in living a moment with the fullest. I keep my phone off
when I am on track practicing; maybe these principles of mine
have helped me juggle between dentistry and racing though I
have a Jr. Doctor who takes care of my clinic and patients when
I am off to track, but that doesn't mean I don't keep a check.
It requires a lot of dedication and focus while preparing for the
races. I switch off my mind from dentistry one week before my
race to prepare.
My patients also support me, and few of them come to my races
too.
I truly believe when you are passionate enough for something,
people can see through that passion in you. And they will find
positivity and optimism radiating through your personality. And
I think I am managing well by God's grace.
BC: Do you think nowadays people take riding because of
instant social media fame? Because we have observed that
many riders are famous but have not ridden any remarkable
rides whereas, others barely post in social media but big
riders? What do you feel about this scenario and social media
fame, or do you think people are more interested in riding?
Have you come across any wannabe riders?
NY: I think that social media has taken over in every field and
not just in biking. Whether it's makeup, fashion, business or
politics, and social media works as an excellent platform if it is
correctly used.

Like today when I see my posts on social media, inspiring more
women to come out to follow their dreams and live life by
pursuing their passions, I feel blessed. When people write to me
or message me about that I have inspired them directly or
indirectly; I feel motivated too.
So different people pick up the various sources of inspiration
from different social media accounts that they follow. I agree that
the trend of getting social media fame has picked up nowadays,
But I see no problems in that.
When it comes to a serious sport and people who are serious
about what they are doing are the ones who are proving their
performances through their achievements and milestones.
If people, like posing on bikes and posting those on social
media, are human, and I don't think, so you have to be a celebrity
or an achiever to be a source of inspiration for others.
So, in my opinion, if biking is becoming a source of inspiration
for others, be it for social media fame or taking it up
professionally with passion is wonderful.
BC: What do you fear the most, and what are your strengths?
NY: My Fears
What I fear the most is not to be in a position to pursue my
passion for dentistry and track racing.
My Strengths
I am a go-getter person who never gives up and always learns
from any situation. I don't fear the failures; I am somebody who
works hard to achieve her goals and ambitions.
BC: If you have to choose between dentistry and racing, what
would you choose, and why?
NY: If I have to choose between dentistry and track racing, then it
would be my dentistry though it will be a callous decision for me.
But I would go for dentistry because even when racing didn't
happen in my life, dentistry was my first love and profession.
And it is dentistry that helped me to pursue an expensive sport
like racing. So I believe I can never go away from dentistry,
which has been the driving force towards racing for me.
BC: If God grants you three wish the what would they be?
NY: If God grants me three wishes, then that would be.
Firstly, good health and happiness for my family and me.
The second wish would be for me to achieve good milestones
and become unstoppable, whether it is dentistry or biking.
And thirdly, it would be for my personal life that to meet a
fabulous man and have a fantastic future with him. And being my
best life partner, I could choose and be extremely respectful,
loving, and loyal.
These would be the three wishes of my life.
