I have always been a woman who's
on the go, and due to the
uncertainty of this disability, I was
not able to figure it out if the
movement would ever come back. I
was feeling low, depressed, and
stuck. It was the lowest phase of my
life.
My highest phase was truly finding
my passion for biking and being on
track. Biking gave me my
confidence back; it acted as the
booster and brought me out of the
depression. Being on track gives me
happiness, riding, and gliding
through corners, and the speed acts
as a meditation for me. Riding helps
me push my limits to explore my
abilities in life.
I would say the current phase is the
highest phase of my life.
BC: It's a male-dominated sport; do
you feel that organizers, companies,
or sponsors take women racers
seriously? How is your experience
with the sponsors?
NY: Even though it's a male-
dominated sport, but as a few
women, when you are in this sport,
you already get enough recognition.
You get recognized as a woman who
is strong and sturdy and gets more
accolades. There are organizers,
companies, and sponsors that are
there and will come forward if you
are serious and hitting the right
clock timing, and regular on track
and races doesn't matter if you are
women or men.
In my case, Ducati has been my
most significant support and
sponsor, and they have done a
fantastic job as a sponsor and have
always stood by me, be it on track or
off track. Ducati has sent me on
various platforms to represent them
globally, and I think that is
wonderful.
When the companies or sponsors
see you as a good sportsman and a
real competitor, they will come
forward to help you and sponsor
you in the best possible way.
