What happened in Jaisalmer?
On our last vacation, we went to Jaisalmer with our
friends were in a village (Kathodi - Mokla near
Bhadasar), we were busy with our group and taking
photos suddenly few women brought our attention,
which we saw were carrying water pots on their
head.
I didn't what happened to Darshana then that she
went them to enquire about their water needs to that
we came to know that it was their daily routine to
fetch water from a distance of 4 to 5 km for the
drinking purpose.
Darshana continued to discuss more their daily
struggles of water to those women. We all got
surprised to hear that she said, "its a story of not only
our village but all the major villages near to them, and
even children also move with them to help them
fetch water.
Looking at their situation, we all felt pity, because "To
Live" is our fundamental right and for living, water
plays a significant role for all living beings. Still, when
we saw for the pot full of drinking water, these ladies
have to walk for 4 to 5 km with all sweat and dust
with so much of struggle and efforts, we felt numb,
but what could we do to help them even if we
wanted then also we could not, and with that numb
feeling we left from there.

That day we realized the value of water, we all may be
wasting it a lot in our daily lives, but if you see these
women and these part of country, then you will be
ashamed of yourself because for one pot full of
drinking water they struggle a lot and we waste many
banks like this in the shower and washing machines.
As we all were silent for sometimes, as if like we were
in someone's funeral. Darshana was affected more
than anyone of us, and she was distressed by
experiencing all this.
We went for the holidays, but this experience made
our reality check. But then time passed, we started
enjoying our holidays but didn't even occur to me
once that Darshana will bring that distressed home
with her.
I could not sleep properly that night. I somehow
managed to explain Darshana that will think about it
tomorrow, but her distressfulness of the water crisis
made me also think.
It was 5:00 AM, and I got up, started reading the
printouts which Darshana had taken out.
With the severe jolt, I read data that "If we don't
conserve water now, then, entire humanity will be in
crisis in just 20 years."
I really must say that Darshana spent a lot of
researched time over this issue yesterday and printed
out some tough facts, which I really want to share it
over here.
