ISSUE 12 | DECEMBER 2019 BIKERS CLUB ® | MAGAZINE | PAGE 09 CHILDHOOD RIDING : HOW IT ALL STARTED? I was a book worm, studious, always first in class, class monitor, school captain, always active, discipline, serious, sportsperson (mostly interested in badminton and basket ball) and short tempered but Being from army background I changed more than 5 schools in different states of India. My father is an ex-serviceman, served in Indian Army for 27 years and my mother is a housewife. Grown up in Army quarters with people from different states which made me more curious about their culture, tradition and food when I used to hear about their places. Drawing pictures and listening to Bollywood songs were my hobbies. I always believed that I was not born for one corner, that I always wanted to travel but never knew what my path would be or where it would lead me till I bought my own bike to ride. I can still recall how happy I was on the day I welcomed my Royal Enfield Classic 350 into my home and life. GROWING UP & EDUCATION I was a student of Arts stream with Economics major but due to some personal issues I couldn't complete my regular degree course. Later, I had completed my graduation from distance education program and finally succeeded to complete MBA in Human Resource. I worked for many organization in Telecom, Retail and Automobile sector. My last job was HR and Chapter manager in Brahmaputra Harley Davidson in Guwahati. STRUGGLE There was a time when had I faced really bad time, when even my parents didn't support me and I had to leave house for 5 years. I worked for 11 years and saved money for my daughter's education and to fulfil my dreams too. I am a single mother of a 16 years old daughter. She is now in Pune studying in Mahindra United World College. The most challenging part was to complete my own education with my daughter's schooling at the same time and the funny part was that we were studying together and giving exams on the same day, coming home and asking each other about the exam. In 2017, when I got assured that I have enough money for my daughter's education and to fulfil my dreams, I quit my job and started travelling on my bike. Since last two years I am travelling. It took me 11 long years to settle down, and earn money in order to fulfil my dreams. I consider working with Titan Company was one of the best decisions of my life, it was the very decision that helped me to earn some good money while simultaneously taking my first steps towards my dream. When I bought my motorcycle, I went to nearby temple and prayed that "Thank you God for giving me this new beginning to fulfil my dream of traveling and I need your blessings so that I can live better and travel more and farther because to reach here I have really worked hard and you know that too." The very first journey on my bike was from Guwahati, Assam to Leh-Ladakh. As soon as I bought my motorcycle, I decided that this was it, I have to go to Leh. It was a month's plan and absolutely new experience. I was dummy and had zero knowledge of maintaining motorcycles. It was the first time that I ever bought accessories, merchandises and riding gears that I couldn't comprehend my excitement, but the toughest part was to make my parents understand my desires of travel and urge to fulfil that but that struggle went on for long and is still going on even after 3 years of riding. I took a dep breath and started my first ever ride. The first hurdle I came across was in West Bengal on the second day itself while crossing the forest area. The road was considerably narrow and a truck hit me from the back, I was frightened ! Thankfully, I was in riding gears that saved me from any serious injuries. It was the day I came to know about the importance of safety gears. My parents were extremely worried as I was about to cross Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and according to them it was not safe. However, I met some really good people in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and reached Delhi.
