ISSUE 12 | DECEMBER 2019 BIKERS CLUB ® | MAGAZINE | PAGE 22 We did not use any agent, and we cleared our bikes and bags ourselves. The entire process takes around 1.5 days. Bikes are shipped without oil, petrol and battery. The front wheel too had been removed. You cannot assemble your bikes here, but must book a truck and transport the bike to a garage for reassembly. BIKING THROUGH AUSTRALIA You need bike insurance to ride in Australia. We got ours from AAMI Insurance that covered up to $7500 for one month. We bought the insurance via a phone call and received the copy by email. We paid $50 for my bike and $37 for Pankaj's bike. Tolls are only in cities and it's all electronic. You should buy it in advance or if you are just crossing the city, you might able to get away with it. You may need to exit the main motorways for petrol pumps. They are easy to find as there is direction signage everywhere. We used petrol called Octane 95. Do not break the speed rules. Fines can be very expensive. Basic motels (not in big cities) will cost you $80 to $120 dollars. Basic meals at roadside eateries will cost $15 to $30 per head. The route is perfect and has great scenery. If you are flying your bikes out of Australia, crating cannot be done by individuals, but by a certified bike store / workshop that will give you a 'Drainage Certificate.' Only then will any airline accept your bike. You do not need to remove the battery, just unplug it. There is no need to remove the oil either. by Dr. Maral Yazarloo-Pattrick B I K E R S C L U B ® | www.bikersclub.in ALL RIGHTS RESERVED AND COPYRIGHTED © WITH BIKERS CLUB NETWORK PRIVATE LIMITED.
