ISSUE 12 | DECEMBER 2019 and after seeing the slip, the forest officer there said that we need to pay fine as we reached 5 mins earlier. I was surprised and no one in the last check post instructed us about that, and they said we can cross that forest area only after 20 mins. So the thing was no one gave this instructions to us before entry and the slip was in Nepali language which we could not understand it and also there wasn't any board sign in that entire route about these instructions. And when we questioned them that why there is no sign board in english? On that they replied that we should have learnt Nepali language before entering in to Nepal, and all the boards which were put up were gone for the repairs. Their behaviour was too bad and rude, they asked us to pay 2,500 bucks. In our defense we told them that we crossed that forest quickly because of the fear of tiger attack and if we were slow and attacked then who would be responsible for it? On that they said "they would have sent the rescue!" But anyway after all the arguments they told us to pay at-least 1000 bucks or else go to the embassy or to the forest minister to complain. I was angry but helpless in foreign country. We paid 1000 bucks but realizing their mistakes they returned BIKERS CLUB ® | MAGAZINE | PAGE 15 500 bucks back. Though we went from there with a bad experience but it totally spoiled my mood to ride in Nepal. BC: How many rides have you done till now? NN: I have covered more than 90K kms till date on both of my bikes covering almost all the states and union territories of India. BC: Why riding motorcycles? NN: For being myself !!! BC: What's your high and low phase in life? NN: WORST PHASE: Soon after completion of my first ride, I got an opportunity to work with a world famous motorcycle company. Few months after joining my new work place, I rode to 'Dimapur' Nagaland with my colleagues for some official work. However, while returning back, the ABS of my bike failed and I met with an accident when a cyclist abruptly came in front of me and I crashed. I rolled over the ground for approximately 10 meters after the crash and my head got stroked a huge rock, thankfully I was wearing a helmet of great quality. I injured several parts of my body but majorly as the heavy bike of approx 300 kg fell upon my left ankle, my ankle got fractured and eventually broken down into pieces as I tried to stand after the fall that made my ankle fracture more worse. The back up vehicle of my office presented on the journey that took me to hospital, and the journey consisted of three hours of full of extreme pain. After reaching hospital, the doctor said that there are only 10% of chances that I can ever move my ankle again after being operated and be able to ride a bike again in my life. At that moment, I thought my whole life was finished and all my dreams were shattered in front of my eyes. But the funny part was that I started looking up for an artificial leg on internet just in case if they decide to cut my leg off. I wanted to ride anyhow. The only thought that was bothering me at that moment was how will I be able to ride a bike again. But then I went to Vadodara, Gujarat where my ankle got operated and the doctor assured me that I could ride my bike again but after few years. He also told me that an artificial ankle will be needed in future. Having spend eight long months on bed with a fractured ankle was unbearable for me, it felt like as if someone had put me in a cage and I couldn't even breath, I wanted to break free. I am grateful to my family members and my friends who stood by my side during the worst days of my life. HIGH PHASE: Is still going one... touchwood.!! I am happy and satisfied with my life. I am living my dreams and getting strong day by day. BC: Which is the best destination you found in India for a ride? NN: North East India, the heaven, safe and beautiful always.
