Some riders describe this feeling as
18
"Having the total unification of mind,
body and situation awareness riding
commands of you can have a meditative
& somewhat spiritual effect" whereas
some describe it as "there is a visceral
difference between riding comfortably
inside a vehicle and being propelled
upon it, holding on while it goes about
its merry business carrying you
forward".
On the surface, these are very different
descriptions of riding. But underlying both
of these descriptions is the idea that you
and your motorcycle are somehow
connected spiritually, viscerally.
The first time I felt this sense of
connectedness, it was during my school
days when I used to watch American TV
serial "StreetHawk" which was based on a
crime fighter biker & his super machine.. It
was fascinating to me and I was hooked
on Biking. I started dreaming of Kawasaki
Ninja bike which was beyond my reach at
that point of time but I bought Kawasaki
RTZ100 (lol).. and started riding in
Shillong when I was in 11th standard, I
was happy.. Post that I got busy with my
job, there was a gap of 10 years when I
could not get a chance to ride. However
when I became capable, I saw Royal
Enfield Thunderbird and got hooked to it. I
bought it & started riding, even joined a
riding club..
The first time I felt this sense of
connectedness, I knew that I'm gonna ride
again. I didn't worry about what people will
say that I'm trying to become a rider at
this age..
