Athlete Protection

Athlete protection is a central focus of USASF ’ s commitment to help provide the safest environment for our athletes both on and off the floor .

Background Screenings

Background screenings are an important part of USASF ' s athlete protection protocol . The USASF collaborates with JDP as our trusted partner to conduct annual background screenings for individuals who are 18 years of age and older at any time throughout the competition season . Only individuals who receive green light determinations and complete all other membership requirements are considered for membership . This requirement applies to club owners , coaches , volunteers , non-coaching staff and adult athletes associated with a club . For the 2023-24 season the USASF enhanced the screening process to include steps that rigorously verify the authenticity of information provided by member applicants .

Abuse Prevention Education

The USASF provides members a multi-layered abuse prevention program that includes personalized training , materials and resources . The goal is to educate , empower and raise awareness among all stakeholders : athletes , parents , coaches , club owners , event producers , safety officials and partners . Our training is relevant to each USASF member type to help them : 1 ) minimize the risk of child sexual abuse and misconduct ; 2 ) recognize the warning signs of possible abuse ; and 3 ) know how to respond to suspicions or known abuse .
