June IN BRIEF
PZYK WARP SPEED REACHED
LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF PSYCHEDELIA just keeps going from strength to strength, and its latest line-up announcements are sure to whet
any music fan's appetite. Among those joining space-psych pioneers SPIRITUALIZED across the four stages of Camp and Furnace and District are FACTORY
FLOOR, HOOKWORMS, BLANCK MASS and veteran drone merchants THE HEADS, whilst Brian Jonestown Massacre hero ANTON NEWCOMBE is set to serve
as the inaugural artist in residence. With dozens of artists from across the PZYK cosmos packed in to this year’s festival, expect the tremors to be heard
far and wide on 25th and 26th September. liverpoolpsychfest.com
GIANT3 SAND
For someone who has long been saddled with such titles as “godfather of alt-country” and “elder statesman of desert rock”, Howe Gelb doesn’t let the
adoration of his peers affect his incessant evolution. In three decades he's managed to mash elements of rock, country, blues, punk, garage, lo-fi, jazz,
gospel, avant-garde noise and flamenco gypsy music in to his work, and it seems like now is the time to honour that amazing body of work. Beyond The
Valley Of Rain is GIANT3 SAND’s 30th anniversary re-release of their debut record, extended to include live tracks and Gelb’s enigmatic liner notes.

FEAST WITH THE FARM
In a touch of agricultural and alliterative serendipity, Liverpool legends THE FARM (pictured) will headline this year’s FARM FEAST festival. The two-day
festival of food, drink and music takes place at Claremont Farm near Clatterbridge, and will involve locally sourced food, and workshops hosted by top
culinary experts. Once again music is more than a side dish to this particular Farm Feast, with the final festival slots on the main stage taken up by the
winners of our #NewWirralSounds competition: CAVALRY, VEYU, VYNCE, BLACK MOUNTAIN LIGHTS, HOLY THURSDAY, and Critic’s Choice winner SHE DREW
THE GUN. Congratulations to them, and thanks to all of you who entered! farmfeast.co.uk
BEN KLOCK
This month German techno-giant BEN KLOCK brings his live show to the shadowy recesses of The Garage on Greenland Street. Known for his legendary
nights at the Berghain in Berlin (often described as the world capital of techno), this is an amazing opportunity to witness Klock in the flesh. Those who
have seen the videos of his Boiler Room performances will know what to expect, and any newcomers are sure to be swept away by his minimal techno
waves. For electro aficionados this is an absolute must-see, and it will probably pave the way for some conversions as well.

GOOD TIMES WITH SUNSTACK JONES
Arriving in perfect time to soundtrack the summer are our favourite languid popsters SUNSTACK JONES, who have just announced the release
of a new single titled Good This Time. The tune is an unhurried waltz through the same kind of sugary dream pop territory that we found on
2014’s stunning album Roam, and is backed with the equally uplifting This Can’t Keep Going On. The 7” of the single – released on 22nd June
on the band’s own Mammoth Bell imprint – comes on frosted vinyl, with a special launch show coming at Bold Street Coffee on 19th June.

KRUNK FIESTA – VOGUES ANIMALÉS
The Kaz’s signature summer knees-up, the KRUNK FIESTA, returns for one final flourish of the cape in June as the club is set to be transformed into La
Auditorium D’Animaleś. The event’s Vogues Animalés theme promises a laid-back and varied festival of vaudevillian music and theatre, heavily influenced by the
flamboyance of Spanish bullfighting traditions. The various shenanigans on offer at this one-dayer – which come alongside live performances from DOGSHOW,
AFRIQOUI and the RAJAHSTAN HERITAGE BRASS BAND – will give a fine example of the contribution The Kaz has made to the Liverpool arts scene over the years.
