APPENDIX 4: BUDDY GUIDELINES
Thank you for taking part in our work experience programme. Work experience is our chance to make a
real impact at a critical time in a young person’s life. We want to both inspire them and help them develop
valuable employability skills.
As ‘Buddy’, your role will be to help them understand the rules and expectations of working life and to
point out the skills and strengths that they possess. Remember that you may be the first authority figure
outside of school or home they have worked with. Your advice will carry the extra weight that can make a
difference in their life, raising their ambition and sense of self-worth.
