William Dove - British Champions Series

I ’ m 23 years old and from Leigh-On-Sea in Essex . My initial love for the sport of horse racing was acquired and developed from my father and I spent much of my childhood accompanying him to tracks such as Cheltenham , Lingfield , Point-to-Point racing and everything in between . I have recently graduated from the Royal Agricultural University with a degree in Bloodstock and Performance Horse Management and having seen how well the course was regarded , applied to the Development Programme to gain greater comprehension and experience of the wider racing industry . I ’ m particularly looking forward to spending two weeks at the home of racing in Newmarket and developing my digital media and promotional skills on placement with QIPCO British Champions Series in preparation for my future career . The sport of horseracing is my passion , and I ’ m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pursue a career within the industry .

Horse racing is my passion . There isn ’ t a part of it that doesn ’ t interest me , from researching different pedigrees , to how a race day is run . I grew up in Cheltenham and I adore this sport . Recently , I have felt that a lot of the publicity that our sport gets is shown in a negative light , owing to big changes within racing , challenging older traditions , including animal welfare . My dream is to be able to make an impact in bringing this sport back to the shining force it used to be . It is still the second highest watched spectator sport in this country , which means that we have a huge following . It ’ s about how we can get this following to our racecourses again . Through this programme , I hope to learn more about the technical aspects of racing which will equip me with the skills to pair this with my huge love for the sport , so that I can inspire and capture my generation and many more to follow . careersinracing . com
