Flipped

Professional

Although technology over the past twenty years has revolutionized our teaching pedagogy, it has yet to revolutionize our professional development as educators. The majority of in house professional developments at school districts are very passive in design. Teachers are expected to consume slides while listening to another professional speak on the latest and greatest educational trends. Although not all professional developments are conducted in this manner, the problem is most are and haven’t changed since the invention of PowerPoint. To eliminate the negative connotation associated with professional development, school districts should begin implementing flipped professional development to increase collaboration and active learning among professionals.
