Over a 20-week time span first grade students were given Kahoot videos to watch and play outside of school. The videos focused on three main language art concepts: high frequency words, vocabulary words, and phonics/phonological awareness. Each week students would be given three Kahoot videos to watch and play that were created by their teacher. The videos correlated with questions that would be on the first grade language arts spring assessment. The research question this study will be addressing is: Did first grade students who watched 50% or more At Home Kahoot videos show significant growth between the winter and spring iReady reading assessment during the 2017-2018 school year at Slate Ridge Elementary School?
