Does 1:1 Technology Improve Student Assessment Scores?

My study analyzed the data from a district assessment to determine if students given 1:1 technology, with no other intervention will have improved growth scores. It is important to note that teachers in the district were not given any special instructions or mandates on how to use the computers, only that students were given the Chromebooks at the start of the 2017-2018 school year. The goal of the study was to determine if students naturally improve on their district assessment scores when given access to technology 24 hours a day, including off school property. The results indicated that the grade level of the high school student played a large factor in the measured growth. Students in grade 10, are proven to be the most successful, while students in grade 9 showed a minimal amount of success. The 1:1 technology did not have a negative impact on the students or learning environment at any grade level. It was determined that more time needs to be spent studying these students with additional factors implemented such as online learning platforms (i.e. Google Classroom) and intentional use by teachers with the technology.

My study should be carried out with the same group of students over the next few years, to get a better measure of how the students perform with the 1:1 technology. In addition to that, a number of teachers at the school should be required to use an online learning platform such as Schoology or Google Classroom to ensure that the students are utilizing the technology as much as possible, both in and outside of school. It is for this reason that I have established an entire
