WHAT?? WE HAVE RIGHTS? By: Mrs. Davis
The fifth and sixth grade students are diving into the way our government works. They are learning
about the first ten amendments to the Constitution and being quizzed with scenarios that include an
amendment. They have discussed whether something is admissible or
inadmissible, based on what the Bill of Rights says. Sometimes the
hypothetical situations are a bit tricky and if they don't read it carefully,
they will not get it right. We have learned a lot about how different parts
of the government interpret certain amendments. The three different
branches and what they do are also in the works. I think that knowing
how your country works is the most important part of this unit. They are
using the amendments through the scenarios and are learning and having
fun.
