Doctors don't know the exact reasons that lead a person to develop an eating disorder. Eating disorders typically affect girls more than boys. Anorexia and bulimia are the two most common eating disorders. They mostly occur in women. Most eating disorders begin in the teenage years. In this case, Anorexia most often falls around puberty and bulimia comes in further on. People who suffer with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa share the same anxiety, guiltiness, and disgrace about food and fat. However, they are still two completely separate disorders with different symptoms. People with anorexia starve themselves and over exercise. Although, on the other hand, people with bulimia eat unhealthy amounts of food and then vomit, this is also known as binging and purging. Most people with anorexia or bulimia to start at normal weights, but then suffer from poor nutrition as well as the mental and emotional effects of having an eating disorder.
