When an individual decides to make a physical change, like Montag's plastic surgery, family can be directly effected. Like Montag revealed, her physical alteration almost ended her marrige and it destroyed her realtionship with her mother. Doctors should be required to assess their patient and why they want surgery first. They also should inform patients that surgery isn’t going to make you instantly love yourself. One must love who they are on the inside before choosing to undergo surgery because surgery wont change who you are . Many individuals also do not know that after surgery it is common for a person to acquire post surgery depression. If the Doctor responsible for Montag's surgeries had gone over all of the risks associated with surgery it could have caused her to reevaluate her surgery.
