Conflict In the congo

The Democratic Republic Of Congo is the fourth largest country in Africa with a population of 75 Million (en.wikipedia). The president of the DR Congo is Joseph Kabila,(Reuters, 2013) he has been in a complicated war since 1998, which involved six different neighboring counties (en.wikipedia).

The rebel leader, Bosco Ntaganda who is nicknamed the "Terminater", leads the Congolese revolutionary army called M23 (Kulish, 2014). This war has been the world's deadliest conflict since the Chinese Civil War (en.wikipedia). Since 1998, 5.4 million people have been killed. 90% percent of the people died of malnutrition, diphtheria, and Malaria. In this war 47% of children under five died of these things (en wikipedia).

The M23 committed war crimes such as, executions, rapes, and forced recruitment to young children. As the military was focused on capturing and defeating the M23, the other armed rebels attacked civilians (Kulish, 2014).
