Care Ministries
Mental Health Ministry
team is being formed!
Bethlehem is creating an environment
that is safe and open to families who
are struggling with mental illness.
We want to promote ways to keep
mentally well, welcome those who are
struggling with mental illness, build
a resource library and have people
available to meet with individuals.
Gail Feichtinger and Heidi Simpson
Tjelveidt are the co-coordinators of
the ministry. We are excited to think
of the potential of the group and
what it will mean for the Bethlehem
community.

Addiction and Mental
Illness-- Helping, Healing,

How Individuals and Faith
Communities can respond
Tuesday, May 7, 2019
Bethlehem Lutheran Minneapolis,
Mental Health Connect invites you to
join us for our May Mental Health Month
event!
Our speaker is Michael Borowiak, MSW,
LICSW, from Traverse Counseling.
Learn about Co-Occurring Addiction
and Mental Health Disorders and ways to reduce the stigma. Are people with
addiction at greater risk of having a co-occurring mental health disorder? Why
do these disorders occur together so frequently? Why is it so difficult to diagnose
co-occurring disorders?
How can individuals and the Faith Community help? Learn about resilience,
recovery and hope, and realistic expectations for family members.
What are the treatment options and what type of treatment is recommended
for co-occurring disorders? Tools to assist with both the challenges and
opportunities of treatment will be identified.
Following Michael’s presentation, he will moderate a panel of faith community
members who will share their experience with co-occurring disorders across the
age spectrum. This event is sponsored by Mental Health Connect with funding
provided by the St. Joan of Arc Justice Fund.
