THANK YOU, ADAM!
OPEN STREETS IS SUNDAY, JUNE 4
11:00 am-5:00 pm on Lyndale - Come Out and Play With Us!
by Barbara Luke
Do you remember the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer? You know – the ones
when you would bike around the neighborhood, hang out with your friends
and enjoy that treasured carefree feeling? You’ll have a chance to relive your
childhood on Sunday, June 4 from 11 am to 5 pm at Lyndale Open Streets.
Whether you push a stroller, pull a wagon, glide on rollerblades or choose to
slowly amble down the street, you’ll have a lot to take in. Restaurants, shops, and
other establishments on Lyndale Avenue from 22nd
to 54th Streets (closed to motorized traffic) will offer
food, music and entertainment for kids and kids at
heart.
A BIG THANK YOU to high school
senior, Adam Masica, and his
Eagle Scout Troop for making the
Minneapolis campus 3 beautiful
benches. You can see (and sit on!)
them at the Lyndale and Aldrich
entrances. Great job!

Proceeds from Hot Dog Sales Benefit Refugee Sponsorship
The proceeds from our hot dog sales this year go to support a family originally
from Mogadishu who spent eight years in a refugee camp in Ethiopia. Amina
and her four children are now living in St. Paul. Bethlehem is providing various
types of assistance to them through our Refugee Sponsorship Initiative.
Volunteers Needed
We would love to have you join in the fun by checking out what the
neighborhood has to offer and letting people know that Bethlehem is a vibrant
and vital community of people. Better yet, join us as a volunteer Ambassador.
You qualify if you can remember the Ambassador ABC’s --- a) be approachable,
b) be benevolent, c) be cheerful.
“Volunteer for what?” you may ask. Are you a grill master? Do you like animals?
Do you enjoy telling people where to go? (No – not like that!) We are looking
for people to help with food, to hang out at the petting zoo and to direct people
to the various amenities we offer such as water, shade, rest rooms and a quiet,
private spot for nursing mothers. If you are more into behind-the-scenes
tasks, we need you for set up and/or tear down or recycling. We are looking for
volunteer Ambassadors who embody the ABCs, who are willing spirits and who
enjoy reaching out to the community. We want you!
Sign up online at bethlehem-church.org. Be prepared to enjoy the people around
you as you share the same sun-filled and fun-filled day.
