In 1995, Anita completed her Bachelor of Music, specialising
in Music History, Choral, conducting and Orff-Kodaly music
classroom pedagogy. She completed her postgraduate studies
in 1997, receiving a Bachelor of Education. She returned
to study Master of Education, at Melbourne University in
2007, specialising in Educational Studies in International
Baccalaureate, Primary levels.
Wherever she taught, Anita’s love of children built a beautiful
rapport with her students. Every year, Anita was inundated
with truckloads of Christmas gifts and well wishes from parents
and students. Schools benefitted from her presence. When
she was 25 yo (year 2000), she planned and implemented the
curriculum programs from year 5 to 6, including core primary
subjects. These were accepted and accredited by the Australian
Independent Schools of Victoria (AISV). The following year,
she wrote curriculum for Prep to Year 8 classroom music,
year 7 & 8 English and Humanities. Again these were audited
and accredited by AISV. She coordinated school musical
productions - “A Little Red Hen”, “Jailhouse Rock” and “Zeros
to Heroes”. Also, she produced a CD for the school, with
recordings of her choir performances.
I attended her last school musical production, and was amazed
at how she conducted the string and brass ensembles, the
recorder consort (which she established as a permanent fixture
in the school’s activities) and controlled the movements of her
students on stage. She clicked her fingers for the lighting and
sound teams, she waved signals, mo ving across the platform
from end to end with such confidence, that the musical received
repeated ovations. As a mother I could not be prouder and
thankful to God that she is my daughter.
