Anita’s Biography
Anita, Gabriel and my first born, entered the world on 15th
of October 1975 at 2.00 pm, in Pantai Hill Private Hospital,
Kuala Lumpur weighing 7 lbs 8 ounces and measuring
21 inches.
Her journey into the world was arduous, and her big round
eyes and lips were puffed up. I thought my baby looked like
an ugly duckling. Her dad was just happy that she had
ten toes and fingers and all was well. Of course, ugly
ducklings turn into majestic swans, and indeed my Anita
grew into a beautiful swan, with a sparkling exterior and
a magnificent heart.
At 2 ½ yo, she travelled to England and Europe with us,
returning a year later to Sebatik island, Sabah (East Malaysia),
south of Tawau. She was 5yo when the family shifted to Kota
Kinabalu, the capital, and attended kindergarten and primary
schools there. She enjoyed and completed primary education
at Kinabalu International School.
Early in 1987, we migrated to Geelong, Australia. Anita
attended Matthew Flinders Secondary College, Morongo
College and Sacred Heart College. She excelled in music and
arts, with her pieces chosen for the City Hall’s exhibition.
Anita certainly did not excel in sewing or crafts. During one
of the sewing classes, she sewed her finger through a Singer
sewing machine.
