GAVEL CALENDAR
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting of the
University of Kelaniya Gavel Club was
held on the 26 th of March 2017 at the
Career Guidance Unit Training Center.
The meeting was emceed by Gavelier
Anuradha Samarakoon and was attended
by both current and past Gaveliers. The
Senior Treasurer of the Gavel Club Dr.
M.P. Deeyamulla was also present at the
occasion and appreciated past activities of the club while giving his advice for the
upcoming activities of the year. At the
end of the meeting the newly appointed
executive committee took over the
controls for the academic year 2015/16.

evening was filled with laughter and tear
inducing farewell speeches and songs by
the graduating Gaveliers and delicious
snacks and drinks. They did not send
the graduating Gaveliers empty-handed,
and each of them were presented with a memory jar full of messages, advice,
quotes, and random jokes from the
members of the club. The evening ended
with the obligatory group photograph
which was an occasion that created its
very own memories as the photographers
bravely attempted (and succeeded) to fit
everyone into a single frame.
GOING DOWN
The very last educational meeting of the
Gavel Club’s event calendar is dedicated
for the graduating Gaveliers as the rest of
the members of the club very reluctantly
bid them farewell. The going-down for the
previous year themed ‘Curtain Call’ was
held on 29 th December 2016. The Gaveliers
made a tremendous effort to make the
evening memorable, as they took over a
