Μ
ια αστική γειτονιά πάνω από την Εγνατία και
γύρω από το ερειπωμένο κτήριο του Καραβάν
Σαράι άρχισε να διεκδικεί μια θέση ανάμεσα
στις ανερχόμενες πιάτσες διασκέδασης! Ήταν το 2006
όταν ένα μικροσκοπικό μπαράκι το Εlephantas, με
ωραίες μουσικές και ζεστή ατμόσφαιρα, την έβαλε για
πρώτη φορά στις νυχτερινές εξόδους των ντόπιων.
Λίγα χρόνια αργότερα ένα ακόμη bar, το Bord de l’ Εau,
ανοίγει σε μια πρώην εγκαταλειμμένη εμπορική στοά
επί της Εγνατίας. Σε hidden λογική, στη Στοά Πτολεμαί-
ων, και το Extravaganza, που ξεχώρισε αμέσως με το
industrial ύφος, την cool διάθεση, αλλά και την ψαγμένη
του κουζίνα. Για «τουριστική» αναβίωση, ωστόσο, της
περιοχής επίσημα μπορούμε να κάνουμε λόγο χάρη στα
openings του boutique hotel Blue Bottle και του The
Caravan B&B! Αρκεί μια μικρή εξερεύνηση για να ανα-
καλύψουμε εκτός των άλλων το 2Concept Store, έναν
πολυχώρο όπου συνυπάρχουν αρμονικά ένα κατάστημα
με vintage έπιπλα, μια gallery κι ένα cozy cafe, αλλά και
το άρτι αφιχθέν Νέον, ένα παραδοσιακό-καλλιτεχνικό
old fashioned καφενείο με εξαιρετικούς μεζέδες. Τους
επόμενους μήνες η ευρύτερη περιοχή θα υποδεχτεί και
τον Μυστικό Δείπνο, το πρώτο βυζαντινό εστιατόριο
της Θεσσαλονίκης επί της Φιλίππου! Όσο για τις βραδι-
νές περιπλανήσεις, όλοι οι δρόμοι οδηγούν στο εναλ-
λακτικό bar Στέρεο με φόντο... τους φωταγωγημένους
τρούλους του θρυλικού Αλκαζάρ!

Over Egnatia street, around the abandoned building of Caravan
Sarai, an urban neighborhood has begun claiming a place among
the upcoming spots of entertainment! It was in 2006 when the
tiny bar Elephantas, along with nice music and warm atmosphere,
placed it for the first time in the nightly exits of the locals. A few
years later, another bar, Bord de l’ Eau, opens in a former aban-
doned commercial arcade on Egnatia street. Then, in hidden logic,
in Ptolemaiou arcade, comes the Extravaganza, that immediately
stood out for its industrial style, cool atmosphere, and for its
sophisticated cuisine. However, we can officially state that the
“tourist” revival happened due to the openings of the boutique
hotel Blue Bottle and The Caravan B&B! A small tour is sufficient
for us to discover among others, the 2Concept Store, a multiplex
where a vintage shop, a gallery and a cozy cafe harmoniously
co-exist, but also the new arrival, Neon, a traditional- artistic old
fashioned cafe with exquisite snacks. For the next few months the
area will welcome Mystikos Dipnos (The Last Supper), the first
restaurant in Thessaloniki on Philippou street with recipes from
Byzantium! As for night explorations, all streets lead to the alter-
native bar Stereo with the background of… the glowing domes of
the legendary Alkazar!
