UNDER THE
SHADOW OF THE
ACROPOLIS
Σε απόσταση αναπνοής από το Μονα-
στηράκι συναντάμε μια από τις ομορφό-
τερες γειτονιές της Αθήνας, κάτω από
τη σκιά της Ακρόπολης. Τις ηλιόλουστες
μέρες και ειδικά τις Κυριακές σφύζει
από ζωντάνια με τους πλανόδιους μι-
κροπωλητές και τους περιπατητές στον
πεζόδρομο της Αποστόλου Παύλου,
ενώ τα στενά της «στολίζονται» από
διατηρητέα νεοκλασικά, πόρτες με ρό-
πτρα και ολάνθιστα μπαλκόνια. Σημείο
αναφοράς η «πιάτσα» της Ηρακλειδών,
που μέχρι σήμερα μπορεί να ήταν δημο-
φιλής κυρίως σε τουρίστες και φοιτητές,
όμως, χάρη σε μερικές top αφίξεις
τελευταία αναδεικνύεται σε must.
«Ποδαρικό» έκανε το Sowl, εκεί όπου
στεγαζόταν ο θρυλικός Στάβλος, με το
urban ethnic σκηνικό του. Δίπλα του
άνοιξε το Underdog, που εξειδικεύεται
στις σπάνιες ποικιλίες καφέ. Λίγα μέτρα
πιο κάτω το Κούπα Libre αναβιώνει την
αξία του παλιού ελληνικού καφενείου
σε πιο νεανική μορφή, το Divino Wine
Case ενδείκνυται για ένα κρασί, ενώ
για μεζέδες όλοι οι δρόμοι οδηγούν στο
άκρως ανανεωμένο Ακροπόλ vintage
café. Μια βόλτα στον πεζόδρομο της
Επταχάλκου, που κρυφοκοιτάζει το Γκάζι,
με τα υπέροχα νεοκλασικά επιφυλάσσει
ευχάριστες εκπλήξεις...
Only a breath away from Monastiraki, we
find ourselves in one of the most beautiful
neighborhoods of Athens under the Acropolis
Sacred Rock. On sunny days and especially
on Sundays it is vibrant and street sellers
and walkers strolling along Apostolou
Pavlou pedestrian street are everywhere; the
preservable neoclassical buildings with the doors
with door knockers and the balconies filled with
flowers embellish the alleys. Point of reference is
the "piazza" of Herakleidon street which was very
popular among tourists and students, but has
now become a must due to some top arrivals.
Sowl made the start, housed in the same space
where the legendary Stavlos Bar was housed,
with its urban ethnic setting. Right next door you
will find Underdog, that specializes in coffee with
its very rare blends. A few meters down Koupa
Libre revives the traditional Greek café into a
more modern version, Divino Wine Case is ideal
for wine, while when seeking for small snacks
(meze) we are heading to the totally revamped
Acropol vintage café. A stroll along Eptachalkou
walkway, that peeps in at Gazi, reserves pleasant
surprises with the wonderful neoclassical
buildings...
