How has your career unfolded?

Over the last few years I slowly purchased things to build my mini nail spa. I became very serious about it and soon it became an investment for something bigger in the long run. It's a good head start because at least I'm getting the experience on running a business and when the time comes for me to officially open I will be ready.

What do you enjoy most about your nail technician career?

Nail Art is what I enjoy most about my career. I get to create mini master pieces or nails. My client’s expressions reflect that they also love my work.

What kinds of nail art do you  specialise in?

I specialise in various nail designs such as portrait pictures, jewelry and gems, gel, polish, 3-D designs, and much more – the possibilities are endless.

What are some common myths about your profession?

Some common misconceptions about my profession are that a UV light will give you skin cancer, that you cannot make a living off doing nails, that anyone can do this profession, that gel is healthier than acrylic, that there is such thing as powder gel when actually they are describing acrylic, and that all gel polishes are Shellac when actually that is the brand name of CND's gel polish, there are many other brands of gel polish.

Tell us about your education. What degrees/certifications did you get?

Other than obtaining my high school diploma, I recently graduated The Nail Technology program at Bermuda College in December 2014. I was a part of the second class to complete the program. The course ran for a year and covered lessons in skin and nails, diseases, chemistry, the work place, services and clients just to name a few.

As a nail tech, what makes you stand out about beyond the rest?

I think my passion for art makes me stand out. I'm always told that my art work is unique. I like to do something different on every client and sometimes my designs can be quite extreme. I'm always convincing my clients to try more styles with their nails.
